Explore England’s largest lake. Cruises set sale from Bowness-on-Windermere and head north to Ambleside, or south towards Newby Bridge.

Located on the southern shore of Lake Windermere, The Lakes Aquarium allows you to visit creatures from the lakes of the world along with those a little closer to home too. From otters and diving ducks to marmoset monkeys and British sharks and rays.

Take a steam train journey on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway which is located near Newby Bridge. Journeying in nostalgic 1950’s carriages hauled by one of our fleet of passionately restored and maintained steam locomotives. Enjoy the 3.5 mile journey on this former Furness Railway branch line to the foot of Windermere, then onwards to Bowness or Ambleside on one of Windermere Lake Cruises elegant steamers.

There is so much to see and do at Grizedale Forest including GoApe zip trekking adventure, cyling trails, walking trails, plus a visitor centre. Dogs are welcome to use the walking trails at Grizedale.

Brockhole Visitor Centre offers entertainment for the whole family. Here you can hire boats and bikes, play mini golf, take a pony ride, try archery or make use of the adventure playground. You can look round the historic house & gardens or have a bite to eat in the cafe.
